The following Fridays will introduce you to women with interesting occupations, avocations, or messages of importance to women. Friday, Jan. 23: Carol Mueller, columnist and Pioneer Press Editor of Home & Design, Health & Family and the Food sections. Her personal column combines humor and human interest, often using stories about herself and her family. She welcomes questions, and says she will even entertain complaints (if you must!). Friday, Jan. 30: Sue Frissell, founder and publisher of Women With Wheels, The Online Publication on Automobiles for Women. In addition to test-driving cars and writing reviews, she covers such topics as leasing vs. buying, basic maintenance, choosing a mechanic and negotiating a car purchase. We know youll have questions for her. Friday, Feb. 6: Mary Ellen OHare-Lavin, international lecturer and author, explains that for those in recovery of any sort (eating, shopping, sex, alcohol, drug, relationship) the theory of a Higher Power is a masculine, rather than a feminine image. Instead, she theorizes that the female journey into wholeness has women going to the depths of their being to find a Lower, Deeper Power. Lots of slides and handouts are included in this fascinating talk. Friday, Feb. 13: Jackie Zaretsky, sandplay therapist. View slides of a body of photography that began in a sandplay workshop and the request choose what calls to you, and which include Jackies personal year journey through the Botanic Garden with her little old lady. Then create a personal garden using earth, stones, and a variety of materials as well as other creative expressions. |

Friday, Feb. 20: Sherry Schneidewind a local realtor with Bradbury, Romey, & Egan also buys, renovates, and resells homes. Many women have fantasized about doing this themselves! For the rest, she can provide tips on where to put your money when fixing up your home for resale and where to find competent and reliable skilled trade workers. Friday, Mar. 12: Beth Coulson and Julie Hamos, State Representatives. It seems fitting that this last program of our 'Women We'd Like To Know Better' series takes place during Women's History Month and brings to us two women who are changing history. Come hear how they combine their political and personal lives. |
